Archaeology of Azerbaijan
Archaeology in Azerbaijan has revealed many significant historical findings. The Museum of History of Azerbaijan of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan was established in 1920 and exhibits from archaeological finds in different parts of Azerbaijan. They have an Ancient and Medieval History of Azerbaijan section with over 25,000 items in total. Since 1969, museums archaeologists have been conducting underwater archaeological excavations beneath the Caspian Sea.
